What Is The Certification Test?

This test evaluates writing and translation skills based on standards and assessment modules established by MTA. Successful candidates receive MTA certification for the specified language direction.

Language Direction

The MTA Certification Test is conducted for specific language pairs, such as English to Malay or Malay to English. Approval in one translation direction does not automatically grant certification in the reverse direction.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. PASSED Diploma/Bachelor's Degree/Postgraduate Program in Translation and Interpretation from a recognized institution, OR
  2. PASSED a Diploma/Bachelor's Degree/Postgraduate in any field from a recognized institution, AND COMPLETED Professional Translation Course by MTA/ITBM or General Translation Certificate (ITBM),
  3. COMPLETED Translators Ethics and Professional Conduct, or Code of Conduct in Translation Industry (organized by MTA-DBP or in any other recognized institution) or any equivalent courses.
  4. COMPLETED Intercultural Skills Course (organized by MTA-DBP or in any other recognized institution) or any equivalent courses.

    Mandatory Briefing

    Attend a briefing session to understand exam format, assessment methods, and necessary preparations.

    Examination

    Take the writing and translation tests according to the set standards.

    Certification & Recognition

    Candidates who pass will receive MTA Certification valid for a specified duration.
