Registered Members

The Malaysian Translators Association (MTA) is a voluntary professional body established under the auspices of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), a statutory body under the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

The association champions and sustains the translation profession in Malaysia while elevating the standing of its practitioners internationally.

The MTA was registered on 4th October 1979, and has since driven collaborative translation initiatives among Malaysia’s translators, interpreters, linguists, terminologists, lexicographers, and professional editors.

MTA currently represents more than 1,900 members, comprising a diverse network of scholars, researchers, authors, and editors, alongside full-time and part-time translators and interpreters.

Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, the association’s foundational purpose is to:

Foster strong collaboration among its members.
Expand professional expertise and elevate translation standards.
Contribute meaningfully to expanding reading materials and enriching Malay-language literature across all fields of knowledge.
